Sun's Amazing New Desktop Environment!

Let's face it - the desktop hasn't seen much in the way of inventive genius. The idea of simulating the top of a desk, with stacks of paper lying on a flat surface, is one that has stuck for over two decades. Its pervasiveness is hardly a result of mind-blowing design features.

The Project Looking Glass (must have RealPlayer for this DEMO) evolves the 2D paper paradigm so that windows displaying applications are no longer stacked upon each other with flat icons and buttons to represent them. Instead, they are viewed in a 3D environment - no cardboard glasses required - and manipulated as 3D objects. The project Looking Glass moves beyond the boundaries of the pedestrian 2D windowing environment and opens up a new frontier in the third dimension.

The initiatives of this project is not to extend this function to the Windows platform. It is intended to open a new world at all, a new and real environment to the virtual computing world!
